Whats App is now adding group video/voice calling to its iOS and Android app, the company announced it on Monday. Whats App already had this video calling feature since 2016, but calls were, until now, limited to two participants. With the latest change, the app is upping its support to four total participants.

Users now can make group calls to up to four people can hold face-to-face voice or video call, and then by tapping the ‘add participant’ button on the top right corner of the app can add another contact to the call.  As you might have hoped, these group video calls are encrypted with Whats App’s usual end-to-end encryption, ensuring that your communications are always secure.

In the midst of Facebook’s highly anticipated F8 developer conference, founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the stage to announce the latest updates to come from the social network’s universe. Not only did Zuckerberg share new features from the Facebook platform, but he also gave us glimpses into what we can expect from other companies that now exist under the Facebook umbrella, including Instagram and Whats App.

In a post on their blog Whats App said: “Over the last couple years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on Whats App.

“In fact, our users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day.

“We’re excited to announce that group calls for voice and video are coming to Whats App starting today.”

“Today, we’re launching a test to limit forwarding that will apply to everyone using Whats App. I

“In India – where people forward more messages, photos, and videos than any other country in the world – we’ll also test a lower limit of 5 chats at once and we’ll remove the quick forward button next to media messages.

“We believe that these changes – which we’ll continue to evaluate – will help keep WhatsApp the way it was designed to be: a private messaging app.

“We are deeply committed to your safety and privacy which is why Whats App is end-to-end encrypted, and we’ll continue to improve our app with features like this one.”

If we compare the WhatsApp group calling feature with other platforms, the range is surprising. While Facebook Messenger supports group video calls of up to 50 and Skype supports its half, i.e.., 25. Snapchat supports 16 and through Apple’s FaceTime you can connect to 32 people.

Updated on July 31: Allows for Whats App video calls with up to four people can hold face-to-face

How to use Instagram Hashtags for your Business?

Hashtags are the most important part of Instagram. They can help you in many ways like can expand your reach and connect to new customers or track user-generated content. With well-crafted hashtag strategy you can get more engagement which can lead to real conversions, sales and more followers on your account.

Recently Instagram added a feature that allows the user to follow hashtags in inclusion to other users. This helps the people to follow everything from #gabstoresshopping to #exploreworld.  And if you can sort this hashtag game then it is most likely that your target audience will follow. It would be the quick way to get into the feeds of target audience who may be still not have heard about your business.

For effective hashtag tactics, you will need to choose proper combination of hashtags. As this will improve your post performance and also will help you to reach your target audience. Now let’s look at ways of using hashtags for more visibility of your business on Instagram.

Use Multiple Location Hashtags: This strategy will help you increase followers and can build awareness about your business. Even if you’re having eCommerce business, use location-based hashtags as it is an excellent way to connect with your group or community and helps you grow your business. If you’re a local business in Bangalore, for instance, you might use some hashtag variations like this:

#Bangaloreshopping

#Bangalorelocal

#Bangaloreevent

Try and use three to four location hashtags for every local business post.

Use Popular & Average Hashtags: By using popular hashtags, your post will appear in searches for seconds into minutes. This will create an instant burst of activity on your post, but when you include average popular hashtags, it will keep your post active in search results for hours, telling Instagram that your content has a long lifespan. The reason for this specific combination of hashtags is related to how hashtags are sorted by the algorithm in each hashtag hub. Try and use five to seven both (Popular & Average) hashtags. These hashtags may not be directly related to what’s in the post but are specific to the industry and clients you serve.

Make Brand hashtags: These hashtags are used specifically for your brand. With this you and your followers can track your discussions and tag your content on Instagram. That is why all big company brands have hashtags that always include their brand name (like #gabstores) and maybe even contest-related hashtags (like #gabstorescontest).

So, try to do your research more and test different tactics to see which hashtags seem to work best for your content. Especially, this hashtag following feature on Instagram, this can be even more effective. Also, you can search for hashtags from others in your industry. See which hashtags other users or brands use on their content and if any of those are good for your business.
